Be
aware of cross-contamination. NWSCG recommends a totally Gluten
Free kitchen when possible. If not feasible, store all food containing
gluten in a separate cabinet and store in sealed plastic containers
or bags. Label all foods containing gluten with the non-celiac person's
initials. Do not use the same utensils for Gluten Free food as you
do non-Gluten Free foods, i.e. when spreading jellies, peanut butter,
butter, etc. Other notations - use separate counter space for food
prep, buy new cutting boards, discard pans with scratches for Gluten
Free food, and buy a dedicated toaster. Consider new kitchen linens.
Have someone who is not a celiac clean the drawers, cabinets, and
counters to eliminate stray crumbs.
